A solo exhibition by the artist YOSHIROTTEN has opened at TOKYO NODE in Toranomon, running through 11 January 2027. Titled Transmissions with the Beyond, it is his first large-scale solo show in Tokyo in eight years and the biggest of his career, filling around 1,500 square metres on the 45th floor of the Toranomon Hills Station Tower, roughly 200 metres above the ground.

The exhibition treats the whole gallery as a single spaceship. Its theme is communication with the beyond, meaning places and times the eye cannot see and the body cannot reach, contacted through light, sound and radio waves. Vast installations convert enormous quantities of data about space, the Earth and the city into light, image and colour, while daylight entering the galleries and the Tokyo skyline outside the windows become part of the display, so the space looks different by day and by night.

Three series YOSHIROTTEN has developed over the past decade come together here: RGB, FUTURE NATURE and SUN. Signal RGB uses the red, green and blue light of monitors as a brush, cycling through 144 moving graphics of geometric forms, plants, natural phenomena, writing and ground drawings. The series grew from the artist's memory of glowing screensavers in his middle-school computer room.

New works made with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency extend the show's reach into space. One piece turns observation data from the XRISM mission's study of a black hole into painting and moving image, while another converts all-sky data captured from the International Space Station into an enveloping installation of light and sound. Born in Kagoshima in 1983, YOSHIROTTEN leads the creative studio YAR and has worked with brands including Hermes and Nike and musicians including Hikaru Utada and XG.
