TASCHEN's 832-page Lucas Museum set reaches shelves
TASCHEN's two-volume 'Lucas Museum of Narrative Art' Classic edition is released on 24 October 2026, an 832-page survey of visual storytelling with texts by George Lucas and Guillermo del Toro.

TASCHEN's two-volume 'Lucas Museum of Narrative Art' reached shelves in its Classic edition on 24 October 2026, priced at $200. The set, issued in a slipcase, runs to 832 pages and draws on the Los Angeles museum's inaugural exhibition, which opened when the museum itself welcomed visitors on 22 September 2026.
The volumes trace the long history of visual storytelling across painting, illustration, photography, comics, children's books and cinema. Artists featured include Thomas Hart Benton, Jessie Willcox Smith, Frank Frazetta, Maxfield Parrish, Norman Rockwell and N. C. Wyeth, organised thematically so that connections emerge across periods, places and media. Texts by George Lucas and Guillermo del Toro accompany the images, with an introduction by Ryan Linkof.
A dedicated cinema section turns to the visual world of Star Wars, showing original production art, concept paintings, costumes and vehicles that reveal how the saga's imagined worlds were built through collaboration. The set measures 24.3 by 30.4 centimetres and weighs 6.13 kilograms, a scale that matches its ambition as a coffee-table survey rather than a pocket guide.
Two smaller formats follow the Classic edition: a compact single-volume 45 edition, due on 3 November at $30, and a miniature Piccolo edition sold only through Lucas Museum shops. The release gives readers who cannot visit the museum a substantial way into a collection that spans popular illustration and fine art alike. The museum and TASCHEN present the project as a sweeping look at the images that shaped how people imagine, remember and understand the world, moving from intimate moments and invented worlds to pictures that have entered the collective imagination.
