Pace Seoul will present The Wild Asphalt, the first solo exhibition in Korea by British painter Pam Evelyn, opening with an artist talk and reception on 11 November 2026 and running from 12 November 2026 to 9 January 2027. The presentation brings together a new body of paintings alongside works on paper, all made between London and the French Riviera.

Evelyn is known for expansive, densely layered abstract canvases that she builds up over months through a physical process of layering, scraping and reworking oil paint. She approaches each painting as something with its own direction, allowing forms to emerge and change rather than fixing a composition in advance. The new works continue that approach, using the transformative potential of urban life as their starting point rather than any single place.

The artist talk on 11 November, moderated by Geun-jun Lim, will see Evelyn discuss works created across her two bases, followed by an opening reception the same evening. The show marks a further step in her relationship with Pace, which she joined in 2023, and follows solo presentations in London, New York and Dallas.

For audiences in Seoul, the exhibition offers a concentrated look at a painter whose work has drawn attention for its energy and material richness. The paintings move between the elemental, the emotional and the material, treating the city as a prompt for reflection rather than as a scene to depict. Evelyn, who was born in Surrey in 1996 and lives and works in London, trained at the Slade School of Fine Art and the Royal College of Art.
