Dial a Number, Join the Artwork: Fugees Launch Hotline Archive Bound for Art Basel Miami
Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean have opened a call-in hotline with public art platform CIRCA, inviting fans to hear new Fugees music and record their own reflections on hope; selected recordings will be presented at Faena Forum during Art Basel Miami Beach on 4-5 December.

Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean have turned a telephone number into a work of public art. The two members of the Fugees launched FUGEES HOPELINE on 5 November, a call-in project built with the British public art platform CIRCA that invites anyone to dial in, hear personal messages from the pair and a first listen to a new Fugees medley, and leave a voice recording of their own. The line, +1 (424) 7-FUGEES, is narrated by Hill's daughter Selah Marley, and international callers can reach it through WhatsApp.
The project takes its cue from John Giorno's Dial-A-Poem, the late-1960s venture that let callers hear recorded poetry by phone, and it arrives as Hill and Jean tour to mark 30 years since the Fugees' landmark album The Score. Rather than releasing the new medley through streaming services, the pair are using the hotline as the first place to hear it; CIRCA describes the medley as the group's first official new release since "Take It Easy" in 2005. The recordings left by callers are being gathered into what the project calls a collective sonic portrait of life in 2026.
CIRCA is promoting the number on large public screens through November, including London's Piccadilly Lights and a 3,700-square-foot LED screen outside the Marriott in downtown Los Angeles. Hill has also made three collage prints combining photography, typography and archival Fugees material, offered in two editions: 500 larger hand-signed copies at 1,000 pounds each, or 2,500 pounds for the set, and smaller stamp-signed versions at 269 dollars each.
The project will conclude at Art Basel Miami Beach, where selected fan contributions will be presented at Faena Forum on 4 and 5 December, alongside artwork and set design from the group's current tour. Hill is curating the presentation with cultural agency Saint and Citizen. Contributions remain open until 31 December, after which the line stays active for listening only.
