The Museum of Fine Arts Liberec in Liberec, Czechia, is presenting One Minute Forever, a solo exhibition by Austrian artist Erwin Wurm that runs from 17 October 2026 to 28 March 2027. The show marks Wurm's first solo presentation in the Czech Republic and brings together works from across his career, with a particular focus on the past decade.

Wurm is best known for the One Minute Sculptures, the photographed performances in which participants hold absurd, fleeting poses with everyday objects, turning sculpture into something participatory and deliberately unserious. The Liberec presentation sets those works alongside other strands of his practice, including the Substitutes, Skins and Bags series, tracing how his humour and sharp social critique have developed over time.

Known for challenging conventional perceptions of everyday objects, consumerism and contemporary society, Wurm uses absurdity, deformation and unexpected shifts of perspective to question established norms. His work invites viewers to reflect on the ideals and contradictions shaping modern life, from the moral weight of consumption to the pressures of urban living and the comedy of the ordinary.

For visitors, the exhibition offers a broad introduction to an artist who has spent decades stretching sculpture beyond its traditional limits. Rather than a retrospective in the strict sense, it is conceived as an introspective survey, showing how a vocabulary built from jokes, poses and objects continues to speak to the present moment. The Liberec show also gives Czech audiences a rare opportunity to encounter Wurm's participatory approach at full scale, with the museum's galleries given over to works that invite looking, laughter and a second thought about the familiar.
