Jack Penny Brings Large-Scale Figurative Paintings to Frieze's No.9 Cork Street
The Dot Project presents Jack Penny's An Appetite That Survives All Feasts at Frieze's No.9 Cork Street in London, on view from 30 October to 21 November 2026. The solo show features large figurative paintings of contemporary urban life, including the four-metre-wide Changing of the guards.
The Dot Project is presenting a solo exhibition by British artist Jack Penny at Frieze's No.9 Cork Street gallery in Mayfair, London. An Appetite That Survives All Feasts opened on 30 October 2026 and runs to 21 November.
Penny paints contemporary urban life from the perspective of a rural-dwelling outsider, working in large-scale figurative compositions. The show includes Changing of the guards, a 150 by 400 centimetre acrylic on linen, and Rushes, a similarly monumental canvas at 155 by 400 centimetres, alongside smaller works. His paintings depict crowded social scenes — private members' clubs, gatherings, moments of ritual and excess — with an outsider's eye for awkwardness, appetite and performance. Over the past two years he has held four solo exhibitions in London, Berlin and Hong Kong, and his previous show with The Dot Project, Fast Food, filled the gallery's Cotswolds space with large paintings of club life in September and October.
The Dot Project has shown Penny since 2017, when he appeared in its group show Love in a Cold Climate in London. No.9 Cork Street is Frieze's Mayfair space for short-term exhibitions by international galleries. Launched in October 2021 in the historic heart of the gallery district, it hosts pop-up presentations by galleries from around the world, giving them a fully equipped London space for a few weeks at a time. The Dot Project takes over the space for the three-week run of Penny's show.
The opening reception was held on 29 October. An Appetite That Survives All Feasts is open to the public at 9 Cork Street, London, until 21 November 2026.
