The Fondation Yves Klein has opened the call for its 2027 research grants, offering two early-career scholars the chance to pursue new work on the French artist. Grants number 02 and 03 each carry a stipend of CHF 6,000 and a one-week residency, with the first residency scheduled for spring 2027 and the second for autumn 2027. Applications close on 16 December 2026.

The grants are open to researchers under the age of 35 who hold a PhD or postdoctoral qualification, of any nationality and country of residence, working in art history, aesthetics or the humanities. Recipients are chosen by a jury of four art-world professionals together with the director of the foundation, and travel and accommodation costs for the residency are covered in addition to the stipend. The residency itself lasts a single working week on site, with the exact dates agreed between the foundation and each selected researcher.

The programme was launched in 2026 to support fresh scholarship on Klein and encourage deeper exploration of his work, ideas and lasting influence. The first grant was awarded in the spring of 2026, and from 2027 onwards the foundation will award two grants each year, widening the scheme as it enters its second cycle.

The foundation is based in Lugano, Switzerland, and was set up by Rotraut Klein-Moquay, the artist's widow, and Daniel Moquay to preserve, study and share Klein's legacy. Alongside the grants it supports exhibitions, research projects and publications, and oversees the development of the artist's catalogue raisonne.
