Poly Auction Hong Kong opened the public preview for its Autumn Auctions 2026 on October 2 at Six Pacific Place, where the material will remain on view through October 4 before the auctions themselves take place from October 5 to 7. The season is organised across four collecting categories: modern and contemporary art, Chinese ceramics and works of art, Chinese paintings and calligraphy, and jewels and watches, the house announced on October 3. The modern and contemporary art section stretches from Chinese masters to international names. Highlights include Wu Guanzhong's Old Riverside Trees, painted in 1977 as the artist moved from figuration toward semi-abstraction, and Zao Wou-Ki's 01.06.65, a 1965 abstraction dedicated to the French art historian Andre Chastel. Also featured are Liu Wei's Landscape, a turning point away from his 1990s Cynical Realism imagery, and Yue Minjun's Big Ear from 1992. David Hockney appears via a 2011 iPad drawing of an East Yorkshire spring scene, printed as number three of an edition of twenty-five and appearing at auction in Asia for the first time. Chinese classical material is led by Qiu Ying's Autumn Ride on the Plains, a work with a former place in the Qing imperial collection, alongside pieces from the Wang Xing Lou collection of imperial Qing dynasty porcelain and the Tsui Museum of Art collection, including a rare copper-red and underglaze-blue amphora of the Yongzheng period. A thirteenth-century gilt-copper standing figure of Manjushri from the Khasa Malla kingdom of Nepal adds a Himalayan dimension. Luxury categories round out the season, with a Burmese pigeon's blood ruby and diamond necklace and a limited-edition Royal Oak Concept Black Panther flying tourbillon watch among the jewels and watches offerings. Together, the lineup is framed as an encounter between Eastern and Western aesthetics, positioning the house's October schedule as one of the autumn's principal auction moments in Hong Kong.
