Pinta BAphoto, the international photography fair devoted to contemporary Latin American photography, will hold its 22nd edition from October 22 to 25, 2026, at Pabellón 8 of La Rural in Buenos Aires. Staged annually in the Argentine capital, the fair traces a journey through the different moments, geographies and languages of photography from the region, staging a dialogue between Latin America's visual tradition and the medium's global developments. The 2026 edition, under the artistic direction and global curatorship of Irene Gelfman, seeks to widen the range of what an event dedicated to the image can be in the 21st century, with room for both emerging artists and established careers and renewed outreach to younger audiences. The fair brings together galleries, artists, curators, collectors, international guests and institutions, and has grown into one of the leading regional benchmarks for contemporary photography. This edition widens the fair's range of offerings, with dedicated spaces for both emerging artists and already established careers, and deepens its outreach to younger audiences — rethinking what an event dedicated to the image means today. Its parallel programme includes FORO, a space for meeting and reflection on the issues and aesthetics of contemporary and modern photography coordinated by Patricia Pedraza. Over the years, FORO has gathered artists, curators, gallerists and market specialists to approach photography in a multidisciplinary way, and it is joined this year by editorial presentations, award ceremonies, guided tours and special activities that celebrate the medium. Gelfman has described the contemporary image as one of the most powerful languages for thinking about the present, and said this year's fair aims to broaden the perspective on the many forms it takes today — as a living record of past, present and future.
