Okiki Akinfe's 'BLACKOUT' solo takes over Ginny on Frederick's booth at Frieze London's Focus section

Ginny on Frederick returns to Frieze London this year with a solo presentation of new paintings and light-boxes by Okiki Akinfe, titled 'BLACKOUT'. The gallery, which has built its reputation on ambitious early-career presentations from its Farringdon space, takes booth F2 in the fair's Focus section, the curated platform for galleries twelve years old or younger. Frieze London runs at Regent's Park from 14 to 18 October 2026. Frieze's own Focus preview lists Akinfe among the 35 artists and galleries selected for the section this year, confirming the painter's place in the edition. Akinfe, whose large-scale oil paintings splice together rich and disparate visual references with a mind-bending, comic-strip formalism, has had a breakthrough year: his solo exhibition 'WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE' at Ginny on Frederick and a Peer Gallery commission earlier in 2026 both drew strong attention. 'BLACKOUT' continues that momentum with new paintings and a series of light-boxes, a format expansion for the artist. The booth announcement was made by the gallery on 3 October, with a single large-scale oil-on-linen work, 'Sylvester Stallone' (2026), trailed as a preview. Ginny on Frederick has become a fixture of the Focus section's recent editions, using the fair to launch new voices into the commercial and critical mainstream: last year's solo presentation by Alex Margo Arden earned the artist the inaugural Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation Prize. For Frieze week visitors, 'BLACKOUT' is one of the Focus section's headline solo debuts. The fair opens during the busiest week of London's art calendar, and the gallery's choice of a fully committed single-artist presentation signals strong confidence in Akinfe's market and critical trajectory. With previews available through the gallery, the presentation is expected to be among the section's most-watched booths.
