Rebecca Warren stages a 'retrospective by another version of herself' at Maureen Paley
Maureen Paley opens There Will Be Another You (9 Oct–12 Dec 2026), an exhibition of new bronze and raw-clay sculptures by Rebecca Warren across both of the gallery's Bethnal Green spaces, conceived as a retrospective made by a slightly different version of the artist.
Maureen Paley has opened There Will Be Another You, a new solo exhibition by the British sculptor Rebecca Warren, across both of the gallery's Bethnal Green spaces at 4 Herald Street, London. The show opened on 9 October 2026 and continues until 12 December, with the private view held on the evening of 8 October. The exhibition gathers new sculptures in bronze and raw clay. Warren has framed the concept as a kind of retrospective staged by an alternate self — work made in her usual way, but as if remembered from another timeline, so that familiar forms arrive slightly estranged. The title piece is a life-size bronze of a reclining female nude, its limbs dissolving and reforming, with drips and pools of paint worked across the surface — closer to a funerary effigy than a figure at rest. Warren (born 1965, London) studied at Goldsmiths and Chelsea in the late 1980s and early 1990s and has been associated with Maureen Paley since the gallery championed her early work. She was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2006, became a Royal Academician, and received an OBE for services to art in 2020. Museum solos include the Serpentine Gallery, Tate St Ives, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Giacometti Institute in Paris; she is currently professor of arts at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. The show is one of the gallery's headline presentations of the autumn season, opening in Frieze week in London. It follows Warren's 2025 New York exhibition Metropolis with Matthew Marks Gallery, and continues her long dialogue with the gallery that first brought her sculpture to wide attention.
