White Cube hands Ilana Savdie a solo booth at Frieze London
White Cube will present new paintings and works on paper by Ilana Savdie in a solo booth (D21) at Frieze London 2026, 14–18 October, placing her body-centred work in dialogue with art-historical predecessors.
White Cube will devote its entire stand at Frieze London 2026 to Ilana Savdie, presenting new paintings and works on paper by the artist at booth D21 from 14 to 18 October in The Regent's Park. The solo booth places Savdie's work in dialogue with artists from earlier generations whose practices have shaped her own. The pairing is framed around the body. Savdie's latest cycle treats the body as spectacle — on exuberant display in parades and carnivals, or laid open in the operating theatre for medical study. For the artist, the body's boundaries are always political: they fail, leak, seep, merge and mutate. The historical works alongside hers will trace an art-historical lineage of that same fascination with the psychological and material limits of flesh. The decision to give one artist the whole stand is a vote of confidence at the fair that matters most to London's galleries. Savdie, who grew up between Barranquilla, Colombia and Miami, has moved quickly from a 2023 Whitney Museum solo to one of the most watched painting practices of her generation. Her large, vividly coloured canvases hover between figuration and abstraction, their peaks and folds suggesting teeth, breasts and landscapes at once. Frieze London's October edition remains the key commercial stage for the city's galleries, and a single-artist presentation concentrates attention — and collector energy — on one name. For Savdie, the booth extends the institutional momentum of recent years into the market's sharpest spotlight. For visitors, the booth offers a concentrated encounter with a painter whose work has been building momentum for several years — and for the gallery, a high-stakes demonstration of confidence in one of its youngest generation of artists.
