Artist Alexander Koch has been named winner of the ACS Studio Prize 2026, receiving £6,000 towards studio space for his next body of work. Koch, who works in oil on wood and describes painting as 'more than just a picture', was selected from finalists Benjamin Blanc, Rachel Coyne, Bunny Hennessey and Samah Rafiq. The finalists' work was exhibited alongside Koch's at Gurr Johns' St James's gallery through 24 September, with each runner-up receiving a £100 Cass Art voucher. The prize, administered by the Artists' Collecting Society, has reinvested close to £250,000 in educational bursaries and prizes at UK universities and charitable institutions since 2012, building a track record of supporting artists early in their careers.
