MASSIMODECARLO Piece Unique in Paris is presenting Gelitin Mirrors, a new exhibition by the Viennese artist collective Gelitin. The show, at the gallery's Rue de Turenne space, runs from 27 October to 7 November 2026 and is now open.

Across performance, installation and sculpture, Gelitin have long questioned the boundary between the work and its viewer, staging situations in which the audience becomes part of the piece. Here they turn to an object people have looked into for millennia: a surface that shows the work and its audience at once. The artists describe the encounter in their own words as a back-and-forth of looking — 'looky look at it and back at you and back again' — touching on lust and beauty, vanity, ambiguity, deception and the limits of reality. The mirror, in their hands, is less a decoration than a device: it returns the viewer's gaze and makes looking itself the subject.

The exhibition includes new works made in 2026, among them pieces titled Hou hou, voulez vous and Au suivant, s'il vous plait. Mirrors have been a recurring presence in Gelitin's practice, which often mixes humour, provocation and a deliberate blurring of the line between artwork, audience and event, and the new show keeps that spirit in a concentrated, single-room form.

Gelitin Mirrors is the collective's latest presentation with MASSIMODECARLO, whose Piece Unique space sits at 57 Rue de Turenne in the Marais. The show is open now and runs for under two weeks, closing on 7 November.
