Kim, an artist exploring the political, cultural and multisensory dimensions of sound, creates visual and conceptual representations of sound across drawings, large-scale murals, video and interactive installations — including the 'Degrees of Deaf Rage' series and the mural 'Ghost(ed) Notes' (2024). Long Soldier, an Oglala Lakota citizen, interrogates colonial violence against Native Americans while celebrating resilience passed down through care and tradition; her collection 'Whereas' (2017) unmasks the violence hidden in legalistic language, and her new collection 'We' appears in October 2026. Each fellowship carries an $800,000 unrestricted stipend.
