Artsy has named the ten artists in the 2027 edition of the Artsy Vanguard, its annual selection of emerging talent, chosen from more than 900 nominations submitted by galleries around the world. The list, announced this week, spans painting, photography, sculpture and installation, and the ninth edition of the programme introduces a new Artsy Vanguard Acquisition Prize run in partnership with the Brooklyn Museum, whose winner will be announced on November 13.

The ten artists are Aiza Ahmed, Danielle Fretwell, Diambe, Donyel Ivy-Royal, Leon Xu, Maddy Inez, Mmangaliso Nzuza, Sammi Lynch, Tania Franco Klein and Xolo Cuintle. The selection is drawn from nominations made by galleries, making it a snapshot of the artists dealers themselves consider most promising, and the new museum prize adds an institutional endorsement to a programme that has previously been a purely editorial list.

Among the best known of the group is Aiza Ahmed, born in 1997 and based between New York, Los Angeles and Doha. Ahmed completed a residency at the Fire Station in Doha, and her work has been acquired by the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, Qatar Museums and the Pérez Art Museum Miami. She gave the youngest solo presentation at the inaugural Art Basel Qatar in February 2026, has held a residency with Silver Art Projects, and has a show in Paris with MASSIMODECARLO coming up.

Sammi Lynch, born in 1995 in the north of England and now working between London and Berlin, graduated from the Royal Drawing School in 2022 and joined Annely Juda Fine Art in 2025, with a debut solo exhibition scheduled for spring 2027. The Vanguard has become a closely watched marker of which emerging artists are gaining institutional and market traction, and this year's edition, with its museum prize, extends that reach further.
