Artissima Sets Out Citywide Special Projects for 33rd Turin Edition
Italy's contemporary art fair has detailed the special projects accompanying its 33rd edition in Turin, October 30 to November 1, including a moving-image exhibition at Gallerie d'Italia and a film on a former zoo facade.
Artissima, Italy's fair devoted exclusively to contemporary art, has announced the special projects surrounding its 33rd edition, which runs in Turin from October 30 to November 1, with a preview on October 29. In collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, the fair presents NO FUTURE at the Gallerie d'Italia-Torino, a moving-image exhibition curated by Alice Motard that gathers films and videos made between 2000 and 2026 around the difficulty of imagining a shared and desirable future. For the fourth consecutive year, the fair will project work onto the facade of the former Turin zoo: I Left Something in the Woods, a 4K short film by the duo Hedda Roman, with music by DECHA, imagining domestic interiors haunted by skeletal leviathans. The historic Hotel Principi di Piemonte hosts its seventh fair project, an inflatable PVC sculpture by Franco Mazzucchelli that reconfigures the ballroom through its shifting mass. Elsewhere, last year's prize winners receive showcase exhibitions: Iris Touliatou takes over the Pista 500 billboard at the Pinacoteca Agnelli, and Louis Morlae mounts a solo at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo. The fair also returns with Artissima Junior, a children's workshop led this year by artist-tutor Francis Offman in partnership with Juventus; WoW-Worlds of Words, promoting art publishing; the anonymous art project platform for Japanese contemporary art founded in 2023 by entrepreneur Hiroyuki Maki; and a revived display of Oscar Piattella's monumental 1992 glass apse for the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Salute, presented at the fair under the patronage of the City of Turin. Together, the projects extend the fair's presence across the city's museums, hotels and public spaces.
