Sammi Lynch has been selected for The Artsy Vanguard 2027, Artsy's annual list recognising ten of the most exciting emerging artists working internationally today. Annely Juda Fine Art, which represents the artist, announced the selection on 2 November, describing the Vanguard as a celebration of new talent chosen from across the globe.
Lynch, born in 1995 in North West England, now lives and works in London. Her practice begins outdoors, working directly in the landscape with pastel on paper to catch fleeting impressions of place, and those spontaneous drawings become the foundation of richly textured oil paintings and prints in the studio. The result is a landscape that is more than geographical: windswept moors, mountain paths and wide skies distilled through colour and composition into images that are emotionally resonant as well as visually compelling.
She studied at Manchester School of Art and Kingston School of Art and completed The Drawing Year, the postgraduate scholarship programme at the Royal Drawing School in London. Her first solo show was at Blue Shop Gallery, followed by her first European solo exhibition at Solito Gallery in Naples, and she made her United States debut in April 2025 with a two-person show at Scroll Gallery in New York. A collaboration with Burberry on a series of limited-edition silk scarves was shortlisted for the V&A Illustration Award.
Annely Juda Fine Art announced representation of Lynch in May 2025, following her Spotlight show with the gallery. Her selection for the Vanguard places her among a small group of artists singled out by Artsy as defining the coming year, and underlines the gallery's recent focus on a younger generation of painters working between observation, memory and place.
