Walker's October Lineup Pairs Sketching Sessions with Spanish Storytime
The Walker Art Gallery contributes to National Museums Liverpool's October half-term programme with a drop-in Sketching for Wellbeing session on October 13 and a free Spanish storytime for children on October 17, alongside youth forums, museum-wide festivals and Halloween events.

National Museums Liverpool has announced a lively October programme across its museums and galleries, with the Walker Art Gallery hosting several family highlights. On Tuesday October 13 the Walker offers a drop-in Sketching for Wellbeing session, a calming creative experience open to all. On Saturday October 17, Magaly Flores leads a free Spanish storytime session for children aged five and over as part of Big Art for Little Artists, featuring El Pequeño Salvador Dalí by Anna Obiols. Young people aged 16 to 25 are also invited to the Walker's Youth Engagement Forum on Sunday October 11, sharing ideas to help shape events for their peers. At World Museum, the La Feria Festival Takeover celebrates Latin American cultures on Saturday October 10 with live music, dance, storytelling and hands-on activities. Mind Games arrives in the Egypt gallery on Saturday October 24, with members of Liverpool Chess Club on hand for games of chess and Go. A family dance workshop on Wednesday October 28 explores the traditional dance of Mexico's Day of the Dead in colourful costume, and on Thursday October 29 Beatlemania: National Museums Liverpool at 40 marks the institution's anniversary with record-sleeve crafts, Beatles memorabilia and 1960s object handling. The Museum of Liverpool marks Black History Month with guided tours on October 10 and 29 highlighting inspirational Black Scousers, and stages Laroche on October 17, a historical drama about Joseph Philippe Lemercier Laroche, the only known Black passenger aboard the Titanic. The Liverpool Irish Festival Family Day returns on October 24 with live music and dancing, while Sudley House offers spooky crafts and an after-hours lantern tour on October 30 and 31. A special Spotlight Day on October 25 transports visitors to Ancient Nubia. With activities for children, young people and adults, the programme runs through October and the half-term holiday.
