The latest Turner Prize exhibition opened to press at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, part of Teesside University in northeast England. The four nominated artists were each recognised for a solo exhibition from the past year: Tanoa Sasraku's Morale Patch, Marguerite Humeau's Torches, plus presentations by Simeon Barclay and Kira Freije. Sasraku's display explores the instruments and organisations behind extractivism, including paperweights containing crude oil on a chequered floor meant to suggest water and desert. Humeau builds sculptural compositions from natural materials such as beeswax, 150-year-old walnut and ancient yeast cultures. The show runs from 26 September 2026 to 29 March 2027.
