Tate Invites Young Artists to Create New Commission for Tate Modern
Tate Collective has launched an open call for artists aged 16–25 to create a new mural-inspired commission for Tate Modern's walls, to be installed in March 2027. The call marks the membership scheme reaching 200,000 members.
To mark Tate Collective reaching 200,000 members, Tate has launched a major open call for artists aged 16–25, offering the selected artist the chance to create a new commission for the walls of Tate Modern, installed in March 2027. Respondents are asked to respond to the social history of mural-making — how murals tell stories, bring communities together and imagine different futures. The winning proposal will be chosen by a jury chaired by Rosalie Doubal, Tate's Senior Curator of International Art. This is the first time one of Tate Collective's open-call commissions will be installed inside Tate Modern itself.
