Sworders is holding a preview event at its London gallery ahead of an auction devoted to George Michael memorabilia, the Antiques Trade Gazette reported on October 13. Titled Faith & Fame: A Personal George Michael Collection, the sale on October 29 brings together an archive amassed by the singer's personal assistant over the twenty years she worked with him.

The headline lot is the original 1940s Gretsch Synchromatic 150 guitar played by Michael in the video for Faith. With its sunburst finish and signature cat's-eye sound holes, the instrument became the visual and sonic center of the 1987 clip, in which Michael leaned against a jukebox and strummed the opening chords of his solo breakthrough. Released that year, Faith sold more than 25 million copies worldwide; the title track spent four weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reached number two in the UK, marking his leap from Wham! frontman to solo star. Several replicas were later made for the Faith tour, but this is the guitar actually used in the video, complete with its original hardshell case and handwritten tape identifying it as The Rockabilly Rebel.

The guitar is expected to make over £100,000. The sale will be held at Sworders on October 29 at 2pm UK time, with worldwide online bidding available through the house's own platform.

The auction joins a crowded field of pop-memorabilia sales, but the single-assistant provenance gives this archive unusual coherence: twenty years of daily proximity to one of pop's most recognizable figures, distilled into one dedicated sale. As Faith approaches its fortieth anniversary, objects tied to the song's era carry renewed resonance for collectors.
