The fall/winter 2026-27 issue of the Visual Arts Journal, the alumni magazine of the School of Visual Arts in New York, has arrived on campus and is on its way to the mailboxes of alumni and friends of the college across the United States. A digital edition is also available on the Issuu page of the Visual Arts Press, SVA's in-house design studio, alongside an archive of past issues.
Each issue of the Journal mixes campus news and alumni notes with features on work by the college's graduates, students and faculty, and the new edition leads with a conversation with performer, actor and memoirist Murray Hill, who studied photography at SVA and graduated in 1997. The Q&A centres on his new memoir, Showbiz! My Life As a Middle-Aged Man, and the career that took him from art school to stages and screens.
The issue also carries a portfolio by artist and illustrator Jocelyn Tsaih, a 2015 design graduate, whose inflatable sculptures were shown for UNICE in Suzhou, China, in 2025, and a profile of designer, artist and graffiti legend Eric Haze, a 1985 media arts graduate, built around paintings made during his residency at the Elaine de Kooning House.
A further feature looks at the many collaborations between BFA Design faculty member Paul Sahre and the indie band They Might Be Giants. The Visual Arts Journal is published in the fall and spring and produced by SVA Communication and the Visual Arts Press. For alumni scattered across the country, the magazine is one of the few regular points of contact with the college, and the new issue is designed to read as a snapshot of where its graduates are working now.
