Amorepacific Museum of Art opens Korea's first major Sol LeWitt survey
APMA presents 'Sol LeWitt: Open Structure', the first large-scale Korean retrospective of the Conceptual art pioneer, with 45 works including 13 wall drawings realized by Korean art students under the LeWitt Estate's guidance, running September 1, 2026 through February 28, 2027.
Amorepacific Museum of Art is staging the first large-scale Korean retrospective of Sol LeWitt, one of the defining figures of Conceptual art. Opening September 1, 2026, the show gathers 45 works spanning wall drawings, structures, paintings, photographs, prints and archival material. Thirteen of the wall drawings were realized on site under the guidance of representatives trained by the LeWitt Estate, with 23 Korean art students - the 'APMA MAKERS' - interpreting the artist's written instructions as part of the installation process. Organized with the LeWitt Estate and expanded from a touring presentation that originated at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, the Seoul edition runs through February 28, 2027, accompanied by lectures and curator-led tours on LeWitt's ideas and working methods.
