Richard Saltoun Gallery has opened 'Elsewhere is Already Here', the first solo exhibition in London by the Indian artist Reena Saini Kallat, on view from October 13 through December 19 at the gallery's London space.

The gallery describes Kallat, born in Delhi in 1973, as one of India's foremost contemporary artists. Her practice moves across media, and it is her engagement with borders, displacement and shared histories that has shaped her international profile. Across her career she has examined how memory, migration and political division condition individual and collective experience, often working with materials and forms that carry the imprint of movement and exchange.

The London exhibition is a milestone for an artist whose work has appeared widely in biennials and museum presentations internationally but who has not previously had a solo show in the British capital. For Saltoun, the exhibition continues the gallery's interest in artists whose careers have been significant yet under-recognized in the United Kingdom — a thread that also runs through its historical presentations of women Surrealists and its dual display of Helen Chadwick and Cathy de Monchaux at this year's Frieze London.

Founded in 2012 in Mayfair by Richard Saltoun, the gallery has built its program around feminist, conceptual and performance practices from the 1960s onward, with a particular emphasis on women artists. It now operates in London, Rome and New York, and has become known for archival presentations that revisit overlooked careers alongside a contemporary program.

Beyond the show's title and dates, the gallery's public announcement offered little detail about individual works on view. The exhibition runs concurrently with the gallery's presence at Frieze Masters, where it is staging a dedicated display of the Austrian-Italian Surrealist Manina.
