Barcelona gallery stages first solo show for artist Lucía C. Pino
Prats Nogueras Blanchard, Barcelona, presents "Karim Rosa" (September 17–November 19, 2026), the first solo show by Barcelona-based artist Lucía C. Pino at the gallery, gathering works in textiles, metal, archival materials, and photography around the barricade-like sculpture and somatic autofiction character that give the show its title.
Prats Nogueras Blanchard in Barcelona has mounted "Karim Rosa," the first solo exhibition at the gallery by the Barcelona-based artist Lucía C. Pino. Staged in the gallery's rooms in the Trafalgar neighborhood to coincide with Barcelona Gallery Weekend, it runs from September 17 to November 19, 2026. The show brings together autonomous works demonstrating the breadth of the artist's material language — textiles, metal works, archival materials, and photographs — installed across white-walled spaces. Karim Rosa is the central character of C. Pino's 2023 book of somatic autofiction, "Crines" ("manes"), and also the title of a 2025 steel-and-iron sculpture built like a barricade on wheels. A number of the pieces were first shown in the artist's major 2025 solo exhibition, "You Who Have Beautiful Manners," at CA2M in Móstoles. Drawing on queer archives, images of friends and lovers, and family history, the works carry a distinct political dimension: the barricade-like constructions evoke architectures of resistance, issuing an urgent appeal to consider the violence inflicted on bodies. One of the standouts, "Naskar Cilindro" (2025), hangs swathes of deconstructed denim from a bar of carbon and stainless steel, like cuts of meat in an abattoir. The pairing of heavy textile with industrial metal gives the piece a laborious, proletarian weight that is nonetheless softened by a distinctly human tenderness. Timed for Barcelona Gallery Weekend, the exhibition also gives C. Pino — whose practice braids queer community, craft knowledge, and the architectures of protest — her most substantial platform in the city to date.
