Prado to devote first all-women-patron exhibition to Mariana of Austria
'Mariana de Austria' opens December 1, 2026 - the Prado's first exhibition centered on a woman as an arts patron, with about 100 objects curated by Noelia García Pérez, running through March 28, 2027.

The Museo del Prado will open 'Mariana de Austria' on December 1, 2026, its first exhibition devoted entirely to a woman as a patron of the arts. Curated by Noelia García Pérez and bringing together around 100 objects, the show reframes Queen Mariana of Austria - long overshadowed in the historical record - as a powerful cultural figure in her own right. It runs at the Madrid museum through March 28, 2027.
