Directed by Florence Bourgeois with artistic director Anna Planas, the world's largest photography fair will gather more than 240 exhibitors to examine the history, evolution and technical boundaries of the medium, two centuries after Nicéphore Niépce produced Point de vue du Gras. A thematic focus on disappearance will run across the Voices and Digital sectors, framed by the organizers as a paradox: photography was invented to preserve traces of fading realities, yet the medium's traditional forms face growing instability. The Centre Pompidou joins the 2026 fair with a dedicated space of approximately 100 works organized around four thematic axes — directed by Damarice Amao and Florian Ebner with Julie Jones — featuring artists including Robert Cumming, Sophie Thun, Kunié Sugiura, Timm Ulrichs, Dinh Q. Lê and Eileen Quinlan. Elles × Paris Photo, curated by Adélaïde Delgado under the title "An Oceanic Beginning," highlights women artists, whose share among exhibitors has risen from 20 percent in 2018 to 38 percent. For the first time, the Prix Pictet takes a prominent position at the fair with work by laureates Valérie Belin (2016) and Alfredo Jaar (2025). Other honors include the Prix Duo Olivier Bourdelas and Les Echos, the Prix de la Maison Ruinart for emerging artists and the Paris Photo-Aperture Book Award, alongside public conversations with figures such as Thomas Ruff, Thomas Demand, Zanele Muholi, Tina Campt and Arno Gisinger.
