Mai 36 Galerie opened 'False Horizon', Markus Saile's second solo exhibition with the Zurich gallery, on view September 11 through November 7, 2026 at Raemistrasse 37. The show presents large-scale works shown for the first time, sized to the human body, in which green and yellow paintings shape their own rooms while blue works punctuate the hang. The exhibition text by Mareike Dittmer unpacks the title's perceptual play: the tendency to read a horizontal line as a horizon and find the coordinates shaken. Saile's abstract pictorial spaces, built through gestures of concealment and revelation, evoke the infinite space of digital 3D modeling as much as the painted surface.
