Lyon & Turnbull will hold its Travel & Vintage Posters auction on October 28 at 6pm GMT, live online with viewing in London, the comics-culture site downthetubes reported on October 16. The sale mixes travel posters with film poster classics.

Highlights include signed James Bond posters, celebrating the franchise's graphic legacy through the work of artists such as Bob Peak, Robert McGinnis, Frank Sherwin and John Hassall. Peak and McGinnis defined the painted-poster era of 1960s and 1970s cinema advertising, and signed examples remain the most sought-after tier of the film-poster market, where condition and signature can multiply value.

The sale also celebrates the Côte d'Azur, suggesting a strong French Riviera travel-poster contingent — a perennial favorite among collectors of vintage travel imagery, where railway and airline posters of the interwar and postwar decades command steady prices for their idealized visions of leisure.

The auction reflects the continued institutionalization of the poster market, where Edinburgh-based Lyon & Turnbull has built a dedicated following in its bicentenary year. With Frieze Week just concluded in London, the October 28 timing catches collectors still in buying mode, and the combination of travel and film material broadens the sale's reach beyond specialist poster buyers. Lyon & Turnbull has cultivated poster sales as a signature specialty, and the October 28 date positions the auction to catch collectors while autumn fair season momentum is still high. Signed Bond material of this calibre rarely appears in volume at regional auction, and the Riviera contingent should pull in travel-poster specialists alongside film collectors.
