Leeum Museum of Art has given over its building to Koo Jeong A for what is billed as the artist's largest solo exhibition in Korea to date. 'KOO JEONG A: OUSSSMOS' gathers roughly 35 works ranging from the 1990s to pieces newly commissioned for the museum, spilling beyond the M2 galleries into the lobby, the traditional Korean art galleries and even the gabion walls. The title fuses 'OUSSS' — a term the artist coined in the mid-1990s as a fluid sound and affix suggesting energy, matter and existence — with 'cosmos.' The result is presented as a world of loose connections: a monumental steel structure, a tiny tower of pencil leads, a stone suspended in a magnetic field, a bronze held by gravity, surfaces that accumulate and return light, and a lingering scent. Rather than a fixed route, the exhibition invites visitors to discover dispersed clues at their own pace, encountering one work while remembering traces of another. Koo, who represented Korea at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024, has been active on the international scene for more than three decades. The show is on view through December 27, 2026.
