The organisers of the 2026 Lagos Biennial have published the lineup of participating artists for the edition, which carries the title 'The Museum of Things Unseen'. The exhibition is curated by Furen Dai, Chinyere Obieze and Sam Hopkins, and sets out to examine the museum as a space: which stories it chooses to tell, which it leaves out, and the structures that shape those decisions. The announced roster brings together eighteen names and collectives: Ade Adekola, Ala Praxis, Caitlyn Min-ji Au, CAMP, Ha Bik Chuen, Jacob Höfle, Lagos Studio Archives, Olukemi Lijadu, Antoni Muntadas, New Culture Studios, Aki Sasamoto, Arcangelo Sassolino, Amie Siegel, Alafuro Sikoki-Coleman, Hito Steyerl, Ethel-Ruth Tawe, Bert Theis and Kara Walker. The selection mixes established international figures with Lagos-based research and archival initiatives. Alongside the main exhibition, the biennial runs OFFish, its official parallel programme, with participants chosen through an open call. This year's partners include Art Bridge in Lagos, The Greenbox Museum of Contemporary Art from Saudi Arabia in Hoofddorp, Future Ancestries, Floating Museum x Lagos Space Programme, Together – EU Pavilion, Parsons School of Design | The New School in New York, the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, and Yaba College of Technology in Lagos. The 2026 edition will also unveil the Àkéte Collection, presented as a growing collection built from works shown in previous Lagos Biennials together with donations and loans from international museums and private collectors. The biennial continues to position Lagos as a significant meeting point for conversations about how art institutions remember, exclude and narrate.
