Galerie Gisela Capitain in Cologne has opened Testimonies, a solo exhibition by London-based artist Jack O'Brien, running from 5 November 2026 to 30 January 2027.
The Cologne show arrives days after Yield, a major new installation by O'Brien, opened at the Bonner Kunstverein on 31 October, where it runs until 31 January 2027. The two presentations together mark a busy autumn for the artist, with a gallery solo and a museum-scale installation opening almost simultaneously in two German cities.
O'Brien's work has also been appearing widely this autumn. He is included in Sculpture Beyond the Solid at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, on view from 16 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, and in British Art Show 10, the touring survey subtitled A Chorus of Strangers, which opened on 2 October and travels to venues including the Southbank Centre, Coventry, Swansea, Bristol, Sheffield and Newcastle Gateshead through June 2028.
Testimonies is O'Brien's exhibition at the gallery's Albertusstrasse space in Cologne. The back-to-back openings in Cologne and Bonn put his sculpture in front of German audiences in two different registers at once: a gallery solo and a museum installation, with the Warsaw and British Art Show appearances extending the same moment across Europe.
O'Brien's sculpture often works with the body and with materials that carry social meaning. A 2024 work, Allowance, is among the pieces noted in the gallery's coverage of his practice, and the Warsaw group show he is part of, Sculpture Beyond the Solid, takes the loss of formal stability as its starting point, a theme that runs through much of his recent work.
