Huxley-Parlour is presenting 'Sight Line,' a solo exhibition of new paintings by New York-based artist Sarah Schlesinger, running September 18 through October 17, 2026 at the gallery's Swallow Street space. The show — her second with the gallery — gathers twelve intimately scaled works on panel. Schlesinger's seascapes withhold as much as they reveal: no light source is identified, no shoreline offers geographic orientation, and each scene hovers between representation and abstraction. Tight cropping and meticulous attention to the physicality of water keep viewers in a state of hyper-focus, projecting their own sense of time, place and scale onto the paint. Emphasized by the exhibition's title, the paintings argue that vision itself is subjective — perhaps wholly unable to be codified.
