A 1979 oil on cardboard by Wu Guanzhong, Rice paddies of Central Sichuan, sold for $701,600 (HKD5.5m) at Christie's in Hong Kong on 30 September 2026, above its low estimate but $22,000 below the price it realised five years earlier. The work last sold at auction in April 2021 for $723,600 at Sotheby's, giving the consignor a 3% negative return. The small-format work, measuring 25.4 x 35.3cm, has been traded seven times and earlier peaked at $726,100 at Poly International Auction in October 2017.
