Art Basel and Live Nation Team Up for Free GENER8ION Installation at the Grand Palais
GOD HATES SPACE, an immersive audiovisual installation by GENER8ION, the duo of producer Surkin and filmmaker Romain Gavras, will be shown free of charge at the Rotonde d'Antin in the Grand Palais from October 22 to 25, 2026, during Art Basel Paris. It is the first collaboration between Art Basel and Live Nation.
Art Basel is partnering with Live Nation for the first time to present GOD HATES SPACE, an immersive audiovisual installation by GENER8ION, the creative duo of producer and composer Surkin and filmmaker Romain Gavras. The work will be presented free of charge at the Rotonde d'Antin in the Grand Palais from October 22 to 25, 2026, coinciding with Art Basel Paris. A twelve-meter double-sided screen transforms the Rotonde d'Antin into an environment where music, cinema, and architecture converge. The space is being brought into the Art Basel Paris program for the first time for the project, which is positioned as a new chapter in GENER8ION's universe. The pair are known for a distinct cross-disciplinary vision, including the viral music video STORM featuring Swedish rapper Yung Lean, which has accumulated more than 37 million views on YouTube. Admission is free, with entry through Entrance 4 of the Grand Palais, a deliberate move by the fair to open a gateway into Art Basel Paris for the wider public beyond ticket holders. The project reflects the fair's stated commitment to fostering encounters between artistic disciplines and audiences, and a shared ambition with Live Nation France to bring contemporary French creativity into dialogue with broader cultural scenes. The fifth edition of Art Basel Paris runs from October 23 to 25, with preview days on October 21 and 22, under new director Karim Crippa. More than 200 exhibitors from 41 countries are taking part, making the free public installation a high-visibility anchor for the fair's opening week.
