Quezon City's Gateway Art Fair marks fifth edition with record turnout and debut awards
The fifth Gateway Art Fair opened on 1 October at Araneta City with 250 participants, its largest lineup since 2022, and inaugurated the first Gateway Art Fair Awards alongside workshops and public installations.

The Gateway Art Fair, Quezon City's annual celebration of visual arts, opened its fifth and largest edition on 1 October at Araneta City. Running from 1 to 4 October, the fair brings together 250 local participants across Gateway Malls 1 and 2, the highest number since the event began in 2022. The main exhibition unfolds at the Quantum Skyview of Gateway Mall 2, where 36 booths present artists and art groups from across the Philippines, including Yaru Nu Artes Ivatan, the Mindo Artist Group, UST College of Fine Arts, Artistica PH, Pugad in Art Studio and Female Art Addicts, alongside participants from further afield. Admission is free, and the public can also take part in hands-on workshops in mandala-making, collaborative drawing, soft sculpture and print techniques from 2 to 4 October. Site-specific installations by local artists are installed across the mall levels, among them works by Chris Luca exploring the struggles of commuting, Elias Pernecita Jr. on art and sustainability, and Nina Chanco Libatique's interactive, playful artwork made for pets. The opening ceremony also marked the inauguration of the first Gateway Art Fair Awards, a new prize component for the fair. The fair has been held annually at Araneta City since 2022, and this year's edition is the biggest yet. Presented by the J. Amado Araneta Foundation, Gateway Gallery and Araneta City, co-presented by Metrobank and held in partnership with Megaworld, the fair has become a fixture of the Philippine art calendar, reflecting the foundation's stated mission of opening gateways to creative and economic opportunities for artists outside the country's traditional art centres.
