Thaddaeus Ropac opens FEAR: Art in the Age of Anxiety at its Pantin space on 7 November 2026, 3-6pm, running to 6 February 2027 — thirteen artists from Joseph Beuys to Banks Violette confronting war, eco-anxiety, media panic and surveillance, with Violette's Mirror Wall (2007) activated at the opening.
Thaddaeus Ropac opens FEAR: Art in the Age of Anxiety at its Pantin space on Saturday 7 November, 3-6pm, running through 6 February 2027. The group exhibition gathers thirteen artists — Georg Baselitz, Joseph Beuys, Mandy El-Sayegh, VALIE EXPORT, Harun Farocki, Ron Mueck, Arnulf Rainer, Daniel Richter, Niki de Saint Phalle, Oksana Shachko, Minh-Lan Tran, Günther Uecker and Banks Violette — around fear as a condition of the present.
The works confront the anxieties of the moment: war, eco-anxiety, media-driven panic and the invisible threat of surveillance. The pairing spans generations, from Beuys and EXPORT to El-Sayegh and Tran, treating fear not as a single emotion but as a shared atmosphere that runs through politics, the environment and everyday life.
Banks Violette's Mirror Wall (2007) will be activated during the opening. The installation anchors a show staged in Ropac's large Pantin space at 69 avenue du Général Leclerc, one of the gallery's two Paris venues.
