Ella Fleck Wins 2026 Camden Art Centre Emerging Artist Award at Frieze London
London-based artist Ella Fleck has won the 2026 Camden Art Centre Emerging Artist Award, unveiled at Frieze London, for her Focus-section installation 'training material (aria)' with LA gallery Ehrlich Steinberg — an immersive work built from her research as an undercover 'chatter' for an OnlyFans subscriber agency. The prize funds her first institutional solo show.

London-based artist Ella Fleck has been announced as the winner of the 2026 Camden Art Centre Emerging Artist Award, unveiled during Frieze London, which opened at Regent's Park on 14 October. Now in its eighth year after launching at Frieze London 2018, the annual award offers the recipient their first solo exhibition at a London institution, supported by Camden Art Centre's curatorial team Fleck won for her solo presentation 'training material (aria)' (2026), shown in the fair's Focus section with Los Angeles gallery Ehrlich Steinberg at Stand F30. The sculptural installation grew out of research during which Fleck trained as a 'chatter' inside an OnlyFans 'parasite company': a third-party agency that generates revenue for female creators by performing intimacy through scripted conversation and impersonation. Her work examines how heterosexual male fantasies are produced and consumed online. A stream of male voices performing versions of those chatter scripts emanates from a raised platform built from modular floor tiles of the kind used in data-server facilities; vibration exciters fitted beneath turn the structure into a tactile resonant chamber The jury — Martin Clark, director of Camden Art Centre, Gina Buenfeld-Murley, its senior exhibitions curator, and Laura Smith, artistic director of the Hepworth Wakefield — said they were struck by the quality and ambition of the presentation, which uses installation, sculpture, sound and scent to make public the usually hidden architectures and technologies of online desire and commerce. Fleck said she was thrilled to receive the award, noting that having grown up in Kilburn, Camden Art Centre has long been part of her life, and that she is honoured her first institutional project will take place somewhere she has admired for so long. Previous recipients include Wong Ping (2018), Julien Creuzet (2019), Tenant of Culture (2021), Marina Xenofontos (2022), Jack O'Brien (2023), Nat Faulker (2024) and Bogdan Ablozhnyy (2025), whose award exhibition at Camden Art Centre runs from November 2027 to January 2028.
