Denver Becomes DIVA's Only US Stop for Star-Studded Costume Extravaganza
DIVA, organized by London's Victoria and Albert Museum and running at the Denver Art Museum from October 4, 2026 through January 31, 2027, brings nearly 250 objects and 58 costumes worn by performers from Marilyn Monroe to Beyoncé to its exclusive US venue.

The Denver Art Museum has secured the only US presentation of DIVA, the acclaimed international exhibition created by London's Victoria and Albert Museum. Opening October 4, 2026 and running through January 31, 2027, the show gathers nearly 250 objects spanning nearly a century of opera, theatre, dance, film, and popular music—including almost 60 unforgettable costumes. The exhibition traces the diva from its 19th-century opera origins to the global superstars who transformed the word's meaning. Visitors will encounter pieces worn by Marilyn Monroe, Maria Callas, Cher, Lady Gaga, RuPaul, Prince, Tina Turner, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift, alongside one of Rihanna's unforgettable Met Gala looks and operatic costumes that ground the show's historical ambitions. At its core, the exhibition is about empowerment: how performers constructed identities, commanded audiences, and used fashion and performance to shape culture far beyond the stage. The installation unfolds across two acts, moving from the origins of the diva in 19th-century opera to the present-day icons who have redefined it. For Denver, the exhibition is something of a cultural coup. As the largest art museum between Chicago and California, the Denver Art Museum becomes the exhibition's exclusive American venue after its international tour—a fashion-meets-music-history presentation that doubles as a celebrity time machine.
