Tilburg museum opens large survey of Sigmar Polke's restless painting practice
De Pont Museum in Tilburg is staging a broad survey of Sigmar Polke, centred on his 1970s group of colour works and presented as the first major Dutch showing since the 1992 Stedelijk retrospective.
De Pont Museum has opened a major survey of Sigmar Polke, one of postwar Germany's most inventive painters. The show foregrounds the 1970s body of work exploring colour and material, alongside photographs and works on paper that trace his experimental methods. It marks the first large-scale Dutch presentation of Polke since the 1992 retrospective at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The exhibition runs through 28 February 2027.
