Crystal Bridges lands $15 million Walker Foundation gift for free exhibition access
The Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation's $15 million gift to Crystal Bridges will fund free temporary-exhibition admission for visitors 25 and under, veterans, active-duty military and SNAP recipients; the rotating gallery will be named the Johnny Mike Walker Gallery.

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art has received a $15 million gift from the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation, a donation that will underwrite free admission to temporary exhibitions for young visitors, military families and low-income audiences. The announcement was made on September 30, 2026. The gift will fund free exhibition tickets for visitors aged 25 and under, veterans, active-duty military personnel, and recipients of SNAP benefits. General admission to the Bentonville, Arkansas museum is already free; the new funding extends that commitment to the ticketed special exhibitions that might otherwise be out of reach. The foundation has a history of supporting the museum's access programs, including its school visits initiative. In recognition of the latest gift, the museum's rotating temporary exhibition space will be named the Johnny Mike Walker Gallery. Mandy Macke, the foundation's executive director, framed the donation as an extension of the Walkers' long-standing belief that art should be available to everyone. "Access has been core to Crystal Bridges' mission from the beginning," she said, pointing to the museum's record of removing financial barriers since its founding. Recent and current ticketed exhibitions cited in the announcement include "Keith Haring in 3D" and "Grandma Moses: A Good Day's Work," examples of the ambitious programming the gift is meant to keep open to all. The foundation noted that removing ticket costs for younger audiences in particular is intended to build lifelong museum habits. The $15 million commitment ranks among the larger recent gifts to the museum and signals continued philanthropic momentum behind its access agenda, which has distinguished Crystal Bridges nationally since it opened its doors.
