The Cleveland Museum of Art opened Spectacular Freedom: Andrew Wyeth and the Modern American Watercolor on September 20, 2026. The exhibition brings together nearly 75 works exploring Wyeth's innovative watercolor practice, with 17 works never previously shown and five unseen for almost a century. It offers a fresh view of the celebrated American artist's early decades and his engagement with a medium seen as distinctively American. Organized with the Wyeth Foundation for American Art, the show runs through January 18, 2027. The museum also opened a companion presentation, Emma Amos: Among Friends, the same week.
