$5M Henry Moore Leads Christie's Tisch Family Collection Across New York and London
Christie's will offer property from the collection of Wilma (Billie) and Laurence Tisch across its New York and London sales, led by Henry Moore's 1952 Seated Figure, estimated at $5-8 million.

Christie's has announced that it will bring property from the collection of Wilma (Billie) and Laurence Tisch to auction across its New York and London sales. The headline lot is Henry Moore's Seated Figure from 1952, which carries an estimate of $5 million to $8 million. The group also includes sculpture and painting by Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, Jean Arp, Jean Dubuffet and Isamu Noguchi, alongside a work by Barry Flanagan. Flanagan's Six Foot Leaping Hare on Steel Pyramid will open the bidding as the first lot of the Modern British Art Evening Sale. Most of the collection will appear during New York Marquee Week, scheduled for November 17 to 20, spread across the 20th Century Evening Sale, the Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale and the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale. Further pieces are planned for sale in 2027. The spread across several sales reflects the collection's range, which runs from early twentieth-century modernism to post-war sculpture. Other attention-grabbing works include Picasso's Femme assise and Dubuffet's Gens et lieux from 1976. The group also features Fernand Leger, whose bold, machine-age compositions helped define early Cubism, Jean Arp, a sculptor and poet associated with Dada and Surrealism, and Isamu Noguchi, the Japanese-American sculptor known for fusing Eastern and Western traditions. Moore's market has been strong in recent years: his current auction record stands at $34.9 million for King and Queen, achieved at Christie's in London in March 2026. The Tisches were noted collectors whose civic giving helped shape art, education and culture in New York City, and Christie's said it was honoured to be entrusted with the collection.
