An Ingres drawing of Julius Caesar reached $2.71 million at Christie's Paris, edging the artist's previous record up by two percent.
The drawing, depicting Julius Caesar in an architectural setting, sold on 23 September 2026. It surpassed the artist's prior auction high of $2.65 million, achieved in 2009 for a portrait of the comtesse de La Rue. The result continues the steady appreciation of Ingres's work on paper.
