Christie's routes Marquee Week lots to Artists for Climate Action fundraiser
Christie's will offer works donated by Igshaan Adams and Patricia Leite in its October 14-15 Marquee Week sales in London to raise funds for Artists for Climate Action, the Gallery Climate Coalition and ClientEarth initiative.

Christie's has built a fundraising push into its October 20/21 Marquee Week in London, with donated artworks sold across its Frieze Week sales to benefit Artists for Climate Action. The initiative is a joint project by the Gallery Climate Coalition and ClientEarth, channeling the art world's cultural and economic clout toward environmental causes. Artists Igshaan Adams and Patricia Leite have donated works that will be offered in the 20th/21st Century London Evening Sale on October 14 and the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale on October 15. The broader programme raises money through auctioned works, private sales and editions, with proceeds supporting the coalition's work on environmental action across the visual arts and ClientEarth's legal campaigns against governments and major polluters. The partnership follows a 2021 collaboration between Christie's, the Gallery Climate Coalition and ClientEarth under the Artists for ClientEarth banner. The house has tied the current initiative to its own stated commitments on logistics, travel, energy, waste, packing materials and supplier engagement. By placing philanthropic lots inside marquee evening and day sales during Frieze Week, Christie's is testing how effectively the art market's highest-profile week can be converted into climate funding, a model that depends on artists and galleries continuing to give works for the cause. The fundraising model relies on donated works being sold not only in auctions but also through private sales and editions, widening the buyer pool beyond the saleroom. Proceeds are directed at two linked scales of action: supporting the Gallery Climate Coalition's push for environmental practice across the visual arts, and powering ClientEarth's strategic legal work holding governments and corporations to account. Christie's previously partnered with both organizations in 2021 on Artists for ClientEarth, so the new initiative revives a tested formula during the week when the art world's attention is most concentrated.
