Victoria Miro Venice opens Celia Paul: Objects of Desire on Saturday 7 November, with a private view from 5 to 7pm. The exhibition of new paintings runs to 12 December 2026 at the gallery's San Marco space.

The show coincides with the publication of Paul's new book, Objects of Desire: An Artist in Venice, out on 12 November from Jonathan Cape in the UK and New York Review Books in the US. The book is a painter's memoir of obsession, loss and creation during a residency in Venice.

Both the book and the exhibition turn on Giorgione's La Tempesta (1503–1504) in the Gallerie dell'Accademia, and the charged dynamic between the man and the breastfeeding woman in it. Paul has made a new painting for the show, Objects of Desire (after Giorgione), 2026, continuing her fascination with the relationship between the observer and the observed.
