Capitain Petzel will bring 14 artists to Art Basel Paris 2026, taking Booth B36 when the fair returns to the Grand Palais from 20 to 25 October. The Berlin gallery's presentation stretches from a 1993 Maria Lassnig painting to brand-new 2026 works, giving the booth a three-decade arc.

Lassnig is represented by "Lichtboot (Lightboat)" (1993), shown against new pieces made this year: Stefanie Heinze's "Skyward Drift; peer through" and Jadé Fadojutimi's "There's a victory in generational love". The rest of the line-up reads as a cross-section of the gallery's programme — Karla Black, Monica Bonvicini, Andrea Bowers, Isabella Ducrot, Georg Herold, Rodney McMillian, Jack O'Brien, Mikołaj Sobczak, Austin Martin White, Christopher Williams and Leyla Yenirce.

Among the works flagged in the gallery's announcement are Bonvicini's "Outing Texture (to touch)" (2025), Bowers's "People's Initiative Poetic Protest on Paper 1 & 2" (2020), McMillian's "Red Earth" (2024–2026) and a 2005 photographic work by Williams. The pairing of Lassnig's early-nineties "Lightboat" with Fadojutimi's 2026 canvas makes the generational contrast the booth's quiet thesis.

The announcement lands as galleries lock in their Paris presentations for the fair's fifth Grand Palais edition, with 211 exhibitors on the 2026 roster. Capitain Petzel is inviting collectors to request a preview ahead of the fair's opening on 20 October.

The gallery — a Berlin joint venture between Gisela Capitain of Cologne and Friedrich Petzel of New York, operating from a glass-encased modernist building on Karl-Marx-Allee since 2008 — has shown at the Paris fair since its early editions. The booth announcement lands as exhibitors set out their Paris presentations ahead of the fair's fifth Grand Palais outing, with the main sector's gallery announcements arriving in quick succession.
