The Busan Museum of Art reopened on September 17, 2026, after a nearly two-year renovation, with the international collaborative exhibition 'Future Museology' as its inaugural event. Running through March 2027, the show brings together more than ten institutions from Asia and Europe — including Ars Electronica, ACMI, TBA21, ZKM Karlsruhe and Taiwan's C-LAB — to ask what museums are for in an age of technological and ecological uncertainty. Among the contributions, Ars Electronica presents works by Sputniko! and Calin Segal under its 2026 festival theme 'Negotiating Humanity,' while C-LAB takes part with Musquiqui Chihying's video works, including a new piece co-commissioned by the Busan museum. The exhibition frames the museum not only as a place of preservation but as a living knowledge platform and civic ecosystem. The reopening follows a full-scale renovation begun in late 2024 that modernized exhibition halls, storage and visitor amenities.
