David Hockney's iPad-drawn Yorkshire landscape sold for €282,200 at Bonhams in Paris on 28 October, leading a Limited Editions sale that totalled €1,061,760, with strong results also for Warhol, Banksy, Kusama and Picasso.

A landscape David Hockney drew on an iPad topped Bonhams' Limited Editions sale in Paris on 28 October, selling for €282,200 against an estimate of €150,000 to €200,000. The work, The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 (twenty eleven) – 23 February 2011, was printed in colour on wove paper, signed, dated and numbered 22 of 25, and measures nearly 140 by 105 centimetres. It led a sale that totalled €1,061,760, with 87 per cent of lots finding buyers and a sell-through rate by value of 99.5 per cent.
Andy Warhol's 1967 screenprint Marilyn Monroe (Marilyn) was the sale's second-highest lot at €115,800. The colour print, numbered 154 of 250 and published by Factory Additions in New York, was joined by further Warhol results, including Golden Mushroom from the Campbell's Soup II series at €41,560 and a 1972 Mao screenprint at €22,100. Banksy's 2004 screenprint Girl with Balloon followed at €87,640.
Other highlights underlined the breadth of the editions market. Yayoi Kusama's 1998 Pumpkin (BSQ) made €28,600, while a signed 1948 Picasso lithograph, Faune Musicien n°3, numbered 31 of 50, sold for €23,400. Editioned sculpture also featured, with two Salvador Dalí bronzes, Woman of Time and The Persistence of Memory, reaching €18,200 and €14,300 respectively, and a complete 1976 portfolio of fourteen copperplate etchings also making €18,200.
Bonhams reported that 32 lots exceeded their high estimates. Dorothée Cornette de Saint Cyr, who leads the prints department at Bonhams in Paris, linked the outcome to continuing demand for museum-quality editions by artists whose imagery remains widely recognised. All prices quoted include buyer's premium, and the sale took place at the auction house's Avenue Hoche rooms.
